SPICE Days 2008 from 23 - 25 June 2008 in Prague, Czech Republic
Joachim von Linde und Wilfried Lötters werden einen Vortrag halten zu dem Thema: "Managing Process Improvement with the Approach of Goal Directed Project Management" (GDPM)".
Abstract:
Process improvement usually starts with process evaluation. The resulting process profiles show the capability of the organisation and the weaknesses of the established processes with respect to the external standard and the target capability profile. These weaknesses ("gaps") can be tracked back to missing practices, which give basis for improvement proposals.
In order to initiate and plan an adequate process improvement, actions are derived that are necessary to achieve the missing base or management practices. The derived actions are prioritised on the basis of effort, the associated risks, and the defined improvement goals, and an improvement plan is proposed.
A critical point is the derivation of the improvement goals from the business goals of the organisation. The sole goal of achieving a defined capability level is not sufficient for a reasonable planning of an improvement project, neither for the motivation of the affected staff.
GDPM is a project management approach that emphasises the goal, or the goals, of a project as a major means for project planning and controlling. In an (improvement) workshop, the goals are broken down to milestones, where each milestone represents a measurable status change of the organisation or the respective unit. Interdependencies of the milestones lead to a milestone plan as a special sequence of milestones in different result paths with certain logical and temporal relations. The milestones induce in a natural way work packages to which the improvement measures can be assigned.
GDPM thus is an ideal means for projects that imply changes in an organisation, focussing on a transparent and measurable achievement of goals and sub-goals during the whole course of the project.
We explain the principles of the GDPM method with respect to process improvement projects and give examples of successful application.
Dr. Pierre Metz wird einen Vortrag halten über "SPICE ENG processes in practice - with a Functional Safety perspective"
Abstract:
This tutorial provides good practices on, and experiences made with, integrated implementations of the SPICE ENG process chain. The information presented has been
collected in post-assessment process improvement setups in industry domains including Automotive and Medical Devices. Emphasis is put on how seamlessness can
be achieved to a higher degree. The discussion will specifically include techniques on how to integrate process and work product requirements from Functional Safety standards (e.g. Do178B, IEC 61508, upcoming ISO WD 26262 Baseline11) as such standards have become equally important for organizations trying to efficiently develop safety-relevant software-based systems."
